The children move to their classrooms. The morning includes a balance of self- and teacher-initiated activities. A general theme is highlighted each week. Some examples are fire prevention, community helpers, fairy tales, shapes and colors, dinosaurs, farm animals, holiday and seasonal themes. The theme is also the focus for games, sto
ries, music, and arts and crafts. The classes highlight a letter of the alphabet each week. The children bring in an item that begins with the letter on "Show and Tell" day and create art involving the letter.
The Pledge of Allegiance, calendar, and weather are all part of "Circle Time" each day. Fun physical exercise is also an important part of the morning -- walking around the village or playing in our own fenced playground in good weather, or playing in the gymnasium in our building. Visitors often stop by to enhance our program: the Zoomobile, a clown, a storyteller, Barney, Santa, and other community members.
